These terms apply to the Cost of Tobacco website (costoftobacco.org) and the calculators published on it, operated by the Global Center for Good Governance in Tobacco Control (GGTC). By using the site you accept these terms.
02Purpose of the site
The site presents estimates, calculators and research on the costs of tobacco to support public health policy, including efforts to recover those costs from the tobacco industry. It is provided for information and policy discussion. It is not legal, financial or medical advice.
03Estimates and calculators
Figures on this site are estimates. They depend on the data, assumptions and methods described with each study and calculator, and on any values you enter. Check the original sources before relying on a figure for a decision, publication or legal proceeding.
04Use of content
Unless otherwise stated, you may share and quote content from this site for non-commercial public-health, research and educational purposes, provided you credit GGTC and link to the source page. Studies and documents by other organisations remain subject to their own terms. Content may not be used in a way that implies GGTC endorsement of any product, company or position.
05Tobacco industry
In line with Article 5.3 of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, GGTC does not partner with, or accept funding from, the tobacco industry or those furthering its interests. Use of this site’s content by the tobacco industry or its representatives does not imply any relationship with, or endorsement by, GGTC.
06Information you enter
The calculators run in your web browser. Values you enter are used to calculate results on your device and are not sent to GGTC. Some calculators may save your entries in your browser so they are there when you return; you can clear them through your browser settings. See our Privacy Policy.
07Links to other websites
The site links to studies, data and websites run by others. GGTC is not responsible for their content, availability or terms.
08Conflicts of interest
GGTC’s Conflict of Interest Policy applies to the content published on this site.
